1 week update
Highschool, people either love it or hate it. Going into highschool for the first time was definitely scary, i have a really huge school and I honestly don't know how to get to the library from my class yet and I will probably get lost one day.
Why are people never neutral when in cones to highschool. Like leading up to this moment when people ask if im ready for highschool, I started to say "Im ready, I have alot of friends going to the smae school so atleast i have people," even tho im nervous af, and yet the two responses i got was :
"Highschool was the worst years of my life and the workload is hectic."
Or
"Don't worry you'll be fine, but be worried because the teachers are really strict."
Like sometimes I just need someone to say, that's good and change topics, and another thing that has been happening is that Randi family members see me and they burst into tears. Like im still the same person, just in a new school, new grade, 1 year older.

Day 1:
So we had orientation day 2 weeks before so we had a general layout, they had an hour long speech about what's expected and so I, as any sane person, would think it's all done and dusted but no day 1 we wait outside for 30 minutes till they call us into the hall where they proceeded to explain the same things they talked about on orientqtion day 3x slower and said by 3 different people who were all repeating the same thing.
So finally we get out of the hall and we get sorted into my classes. I (thank god) am with my best friend, let's call her Kristen. She's the polar opposite of me in many ways but we can both agree that we are also so similar in alot of ways. So we're waiting in like and I'm in 8C so I was nervous waiting for my name to be called out. Also can we talk about the fact they called our names from a microphone and made you walk past everyone, parents and students, to get to your class teacher, and they wait for you to leave before calling the next name. My class teacher looks like the trunchbull. She fortunately does not act like the trunchbull but she is my afrikaans teacher so that's unfortunate.
In south africa we have things called RCLs. Im not sure how it works at other schools but at my school you can be 2 things : RCL or Class captain. There's only 2 per category per class (so 4 in total) and this is for the whole year. I'm RCL with this boy from my previous school and my (maybe, idrk) current crush is class captain with my not so close friend.

Day 5:
The past few days we've only really been writing baselines, getting our books and meeting teachers and learning their rules. I really enjoy Natural Science and EMS so far. My maths teacher is boring and slow so i might be going for tuition from my last year maths teacher.
So here we are at the end of 5 business days or 1 school week. Let's just say I'm ready for whatever highschool brings for me.
Here are a few of my goals for the year:
- Top 3 in the class
- Top 5 in the grade (they do till 10)
- Top 10 in merits
- Be a good RCL.
Thank you all for reading see you in the next one!!!
Love,
Tara
